Kathleen Underwood

Kathleen Underwood is associate professor emerita (History and Women, Gender, & Sexualities) from Grand Valley State University. She retired in 2015. Since then, she Kathleen been active in immigrant rights, including teaching citizenship classes to eligible immigrants to protesting in at the US Senate for legislation for DACA (Deferred Actions for Childhood Arrivals).

Her research interests centered on the 19th Century American West, with a focus on migration and family. She published a book and several articles based on her research and co-edited two volumes. She has made presentations to scholarly organizations and to public audiences, most recently at Aquinas College Olli Program.

In addition to her work with immigrants, she is keen on her pollinator garden.
